Things to consider when working out your costings.
Pay well, sorry but this tends to seperate the excellent operator from the cowboys/girls.
Get them to do a site visit for the quote, this helps make sure there are no hidden areas so the quote can be real.
Your price with be effected by a couple things
Regular booking vs “I’ll call you”. Regular booking will be cheaper per visit than the “I’ll call you approach”.
One a month is also higher per visit, in summer the cut is very long and can take double the time.
Green waste removal or not. Try mulching, have a green bin, or have a place where the mulch can go. This will make it cheaper in the quote.
Pay for the extra stuff. If you ask them to do more work, please pay for it. It’s like going to woolies and buying a nice hot chicken and then just asking Mr Woolworths to cover the loaf of bread because your just getting it while your there 😊
What do you need done, don’t just ask for mowing and then add stuff on. Make it clear what you need and how often you want it done.
Cash or invoice. For some this makes a difference. Don’t be afraid to ask for the cash price.
Suggest you ask for seasonal, this could be summer - every fortnight, Spring 2-3 weeks, winter - one a month and autumn 3-4 weeks. Maybe based your budget on 15-19 mows a year.
Where to find good people.
Ask your local facebook group chat, people will share their experiences with you and who’s good in the area. If you don’t have Facebook then ask a relative or friend to post for you.
www.Airtasker.com.au This site allows you to get people to pitch for your home and you can see what ratings they already have.
www.hipages.com.au This site allows you to post a job and have 3 people tender for the job. You can also view ratings.
Google search your area. Find a local business to your area and check out their website or give them a call.
Some franchises out there, www.jimsmowing.com.au, www.foxmowing.com.au, you will likely pay more to have these companies, but they do tend to set the benchmark when it comes to pricing.
I really hope this helps you find your next lawn mowing company, as we wrap up our business it’s been an amazing pleasure to help people see their homes become beautiful as we served them through SE QLD.
